Feature Filmmaking in Santa Barbara
to Fund Play Productions at SBT
In June 2010, SBT plans to produce two low-budget, feature length films in Santa Barbara. One is a ghost story with comic touches and the other is an adventure story with romance. Both have been developed by SBT to be highly commercial.
SBT seeks to raise $4.5 million in to produce these two films back to back and to distribute them in limited release before going to DVD and cable. Many of the actors seen in SBT shows will have roles in these films.
Ten percent of all investment funds raised for this venture will go directly to SBT as a royalty for developing the screenplays. This will supplement the contributed income needs of our nonprofit, professional theatre company and sustain SBT for the long term.
Producing and distributing two films for $4.5 million means that investors will see a return of their investment sooner than they would if these were produced by major studios. By distributing the films ourselves, we will control the profits from the very start.
Investors will have their names in the films’ credits, a chance to appear in a crowd scene shot at the Lobero Theatre, a DVD of each film and an e-newsletter that will keep you up to date on the progress of the productions. Investments start as low as $900.
